Breakfast Event on Undocumented Students & Access to Higher Education - 9/29/08

September 29, 2008 - More than 140 educators, advocates, elected officials, nonprofit and foundation executives, and business leaders attended CPE’s breakfast event at the Westin Tabor Center that featured noted author Dr. Alejandra Rincón and the release of our new report showcasing the need for tuition equity in Colorado, prepared for the Higher Education Access Alliance.

Payday Lending Reform Luncheon - 3/6/08

On Thursday, March 6, 2008, CPE hosted a discussion and luncheon on payday lending, including evidence from research studies, recent reforms in other states, as well as current efforts in Colorado. Held at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center, this event drew more than 60 guests, including policymakers and leaders from the nonprofit sector. Speakers included Terry Whitney, Legislative Director of the Colorado Senate Majority Office; Ron Phillips, Professor of Economics, Colorado State University; Katherine Samolyk, Senior Economist, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Division of Insurance and Research; Rich Jones, Director of Policy and Research, The Bell Policy Center; and Spiros Protopsaltis, CPE President.
